The World Around Us: Embedding Social Studies Opportunities Across Your Classroom Community


During this engaging workshop, participants will explore what social studies is, why it is important to teach social studies to young children and experience the sharing of a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that intersect with other domains of learning. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will reflect on the context of their own teaching practices and create a list of props and activities they can implement across their teaching environments.

Michele Hall, M.Ed. - Founder and Educational Trainer at MMH Early Childhood Training and Consulting LLC, graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland with a BA in Psychology and holds a master's degree in early childhood education from Towson University. She has been active in the field of training and educational development focusing on early childhood education, staff development, advocating for special needs children, and supporting adult learners through many roles. Over her 20 plus years in Early Childhood, Michele has worked as a Program Coordinator, Training and Curriculum Specialist, Director and College Adjunct. Currently, Michele serves as a PDS for the Council for Professional Recognition, an approved trainer for the Maryland Department of Education, and approved affiliate trainer for Maryland Family Network, a reliable CLASS observer, KRA Trainer, Maryland State Accreditation Validator, Pyramid Model Trainer/Coach, a Zero to Three Certified Trainer, and trainer/coach for the University of Maryland Early Ed Corp Team.
