Supporting Multilingual Learners in the Classroom

Workshop A

This training is designed to equip educators with the tools and strategies needed to effectively teach second or multiple language learners. Participants will begin by defining what it means to be a Multilingual Learner and explore the diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds these students bring to the classroom.

Annie will address common myths about Multilingual Learners, providing clarity and promoting a deeper understanding of their needs and potential. Educators will also explore a variety of instructional methods and collaborative strategies that can enhance learning for these students, focusing on approaches that support language development while fostering academic success.

By the end of the session, participants will have the opportunity to develop an action plan with two practical strategies or methods they can immediately incorporate into their teaching practices, enhancing the experience of multilingual learners in their classrooms. This training will empower educators to create a more inclusive and effective learning environment for all students.
