Nature Plans in an Urban Land!  Outdoor Adventures in Metropolitan Area

Workshop A

This research-based workshop shares the creation process and implementation of Edgewood’s first Outdoor Classroom, geared towards preschool and early elementary learners.  Ranging from Tree Branch Art to Interactive Food Science, Jasmin will expand on ways that learning in nature engaged local community members, enriched child academics and highlighted the depths of creation for young minds.  Additionally, participants will gain information regarding ways to create and manage an outdoor space in a ‘limited” outdoor setting.

Jasmin Field is a Michigan State University graduate with a BA in Theater and a certified nature-based educator through the Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools.  Her company, A Hint of Jasmin, focuses on methods and supports that academically advance children and strengthen parent/child relationships.  Prior to the launch of her company, Jasmin worked as a Lead Preschool Teacher at the Goddard School in Harford County, Maryland and served through an AmeriCorps position as Site Coordinator, strengthening literacy for elementary learners in Baltimore City.  She, her husband and three children reside in Edgewood, MD-home of the Outdoor Neighborhood Classroom.
